Different Types of Exterior Wall Tiles

1. Vitrified tile 

Vitrified tile is a kind of strengthened polished brick. In addition to porcelain clay, it also contains a high proportion of quartz sand (the main raw material for making glass). This ceramic brick has the texture of natural stone and has the advantages of high luminosity, high hardness, high wear resistance, low water absorption, less color difference, and rich color. It is fired at a high temperature. Its texture is a harder, more wear-resistant, and better finish than polished brick.

2. Mosaic tile

Mosaic is a special kind of tile, which is generally composed of dozens of small bricks to form a relatively large brick. It is divided into ceramic mosaic, marble mosaic, and glass mosaic.

3. Polished tile

Polished brick is a kind of bright brick made by grinding the surface of the whole tile body. Polished tile is a derivative product of the whole brick. Relative to the whole brick, the plane is rough, and the surface of the polished tile is smooth. Hard and wear-resistant, suitable for use in most indoor spaces except toilets, kitchens, and indoor environments. On the basis of using the technology of infiltrating flowers, polished bricks can make various stone-like and wood-like effects.

4. Full-body tile

The surface of the full body tiles is not glazed, and the material and color of the front and back sides are the same, so it is named. Full body tile is a kind of wear-resistant brick. Although there are still varieties such as infiltrated full body brick, its design and color are relatively inferior to glazed tiles. Generally, it is rarely used on the wall, and most anti-skid bricks belong to full-length bricks.

5. Glazed tile

Glazed tile is a brick whose surface has been glazed. Based on the difference in raw materials, it can be divided into two types: ceramic glazed tiles, which are fired from clay, with high water absorption and relatively low strength. According to the local soil quality, there is red soil and white (yellow) soil. Porcelain glazed tiles are fired from porcelain clay, with low water absorption and relatively high strength. Its main feature is that the back color is gray and white. The different glosses can also be divided into the following two types: bright glazed tiles and matte glazed tiles.

Difference Between Outdoor and Indoor Wall Tiles

Compared with other exterior wall materials, outdoor wall tiles are building materials with strong pollution resistance. For example, it hardly absorbs water and dirt; Firing at a high temperature above 1000 ℃, semi-permanent and stable; It has super acid resistance and alkali resistance, and will not be affected even by acid rain. However, due to the use status, the external wall bricks will also be dirty. Almost all the dirt generated by exhaust gas, soot, and dust, etc., of the dirt accumulation parts, are around the window frame. Black spots are particularly eye-catching.

The water absorption rate of indoor wall tiles is relatively high, and the color difference occurs after water absorption. Generally, the color difference will be eliminated after the wall surface is dry. The exterior wall tiles are subject to an acid-base resistance test and can only be delivered after being immersed in 10% acid and alkali solution without discoloration. Generally, bleach is added to the swimming pool, which has a low acid base and will not corrode the tiles.
